Fundamental Movement
Today was our first Fundamental Movement lesson! P2/3 started off with a game of tag. They then ran around cones and when the whistle was blown they had to make sure they made it to a cone first and freeze there (similar to musical chairs). If two people got to the cone at the same time, they played rock, paper, scissors to decide who got to stay. Next, the class got into 4 teams. The team that collected the most cones in the time period won! However, there was a challenge for the next level. Pupils had to roll the ball to the target and the partner had to catch it and then take the cone back with them.
Incorporating running, dodging, balancing, freeing, rolling, aiming and catching skills. Developing co-ordination and control and teamwork and awareness of and ability to follow game rules as well as many othering thinking skills and personal capabilities.
