Thomas Trail Tuesdays
P4/5 have been enjoying our Tuesday afternoons on the Thomas Trail. The last few weeks we have been linking our outdoor activities into our topic of World War 2.
One afternoon we had lots of fun working with our partners to try and camouflage each other using the materials from the Thomas Trail. We were even allowed to put some mud on our faces!! After we had camouflaged ourselves, we hid from the enemies and they had to come and find us. It was lots of fun!!
The following week, we went on a scavenger hunt around the Thomas Trail. Miss Beacom hid some Morse code clues on items that were rationed in WW2. We all had to go and find them and work out what each item on the clue was using our key. We enjoyed trying to find them and work them out.
Yesterday afternoon, we made model Anderson Shelters for the British people in WW2. First, we picked an area to build our Anderson Shelter and gathered up some natural materials to help camouflage it. Next, we used shovels to dig a hole in the ground for our underground effect and designed the shape of our shelters. Then, we used our gathered materials to cover our Anderson Shelter but remembered to leave a gap for the entrance. We had lots of fun digging and creating our Anderson Shelters!
