WANTED: JACK for STEALING!
We had been diving into the world of Jack and the Beanstalk, exploring different versions of the story and getting to know Jack as a character. Using Jumpstart techniques, each table had a large sheet of flipchart paper filled with photos and visual prompts to spark discussion and ideas.
We thought carefully about Jack’s character, his actions (verbs), what he looks like, and what he wears. The children worked collaboratively to come up with fabulous descriptive words, building a rich table of vocabulary to describe Jack in detail.
To bring it all together, we created our own Wanted Posters for Jack! These included powerful descriptions, imaginative details, and eye-catching designs. The children loved imagining how Jack might be seen by others in the story. Was he brave, sneaky, clever, or cheeky?
It was a brilliant blend of reading, discussion, vocabulary building, creative writing and art and the results were fantastic!
